In October 2021, the ordering of driver cards was moved from the Police to the Danish Road Traffic Authority, as the responsible authority.
In addition, it became possible to order driver cards online, where previously one had to go to a police station reception.
Today, you can order your new driver card via borger.dk. You will find the tab under 'Transport, traffic, travel.

For the driver card application, you must have the following ready:
1. MitID.
2. Digital photo
3. Photo of the front and back of your driving license. (if it is the first driver card)
The digital photo can be a passport photo or a similar photo taken against a white wall. The file format must be .jpg

It takes approximately 10 business days for the driver card to arrive in the mailbox.
